Des Moines, IA , December 15, 2009 – In commemoration of Women’s History
Month and International Women’s Day on March 8th, DAWN’s List will honor
Iowa women who have made a difference in our lives and in Iowa politics. At
a reception on March 8th, DAWN’s List will recognize Democratic women from
across the state for their work and dedication to progressive causes.
DAWN's List is now accepting nominations for the five awards to be presented
at the March 8th reception. The awards being given will include the Lifetime
Achievement Award, Rising Star Award, Activist Award, Elected Official Award
and Special Recognition Award.
“We feel it's very important to take a step back from campaigning and
legislating in March to honor the work of Democratic women around the
state,” said Carole Kazmierski, President of DAWN’s List. “Every day
progressive women work hard to make Iowa a better place. We encourage both
men and women to take a moment and thank the DAWN women in their lives by
nominating them for this special recognition.”
Award criteria and nomination papers may be requested by emailing dawniowa@gmail.com.
Nominations must be received by 5:00 PM on February 1st.
Since 1992, DAWN’s List has been dedicated to the election of Democratic
pro-choice women in Iowa . Today, DAWN’s List is the only Iowa group
dedicated solely to the support, recruitment, mentoring and election of
progressive women.
