Mike Completes Week-Long, Six County Tour
Mike toured Union, Clarke, Decatur, Page, Sac, and Crawford counties in mid-January, meeting with Democrats, business leaders, educators, and local news media. During his travels Mike discussed the economic challenges facing the district with local bankers, Chamber of Commerce presidents, and residents. High unemployment rates, like the 9.3% in Clarke County as of December, are of high concern to Mike, who is dedicated to supporting programs and initiatives that create quality jobs for western Iowans. Throughout his six county tour, which included a meet and greet house party with local Democrats in Creston, central committee meetings in Clarke and Page counties, and lunches at the Creston livestock sale barn and Cronk’s in Denison, Mike was encouraged by the great support of 5th District Iowans. Special thanks to everyone who was able to meet with Mike on his travels.
Mike Visits Southwestern Iowa Renewable Fuel Plant
Mike believes in the importance of renewable energy and the opportunities it will offer the people of Iowa. In late December, Mike visited a biofuel plant in southwest Iowa. After visiting the plant, Mike said, "Development of green energy infrastructure and the creation of new renewable fuel plants in western Iowa will provide more quality jobs for Iowans and will help solve our country’s increasing dependence on foreign oil. As Congressman, I will support research and development and work to institute long-term renewable fuel tax credits to help grow the industry."
Highway 20 Corridor Association Meeting
As part of his six county tour, Mike attended the Highway 20 Corridor Association meeting in Sac City to learn about the challenges facing Highway 20 expansion in northwest Iowa. Mike believes we need to invest in our future by ensuring western Iowa has the 21st century infrastructure, such as a four lane Highway 20, to attract new businesses and jobs.
Mike Attends Pottawattamie County Caucuses
On Saturday, January 23rd, Mike joined around 60 other Pottawattamie County residents for the Iowa Democratic Party’s precinct caucuses. Mike spoke with the crowd about his candidacy and his desire to bring positive change to the 5th District. He was impressed with the size of the crowd for an off-year caucus and believes it shows the Democratic Party is alive and well in western Iowa. Thank you to everyone who participated in the caucus.
Successful Canvasses in Spencer and Storm Lake
The campaign visited Storm Lake and Spencer during the weekend of December 4th and 5th, where Mike met with local business owners to discuss the needs and issues important to Iowa small businesses. Mike also collected ballot signatures and met with voters. Presenting to the Buena Vista County Democratic Central Committee, Mike shared his vision for Iowa District 5 and his focus on the need for job creation and increased educational opportunities. Round Table Discussion with Residents of Red Oak
In late November, Mike spent the evening at a round table discussion with local residents in Red Oak at the Firehouse Brewery and Restaurant. A dozen people came out to visit with Mike, share their personal stories, and discuss the important issues that impact their day to lives. The conversation included a range of topics from healthcare reform to job creation to national security. Please contact the campaign at general@denklauforcongress.com if you would like to organize a round table discussion with Mike in your town.

Candidate & Websites
Welcome to the Krause For Iowa's Future site. Running for the U.S. Senate is not a destination, it is a journey. I am honored that many of you have seen fit to support me enthusiastically. I am likewise grateful that life has placed me in such a situation to even be considered for such a high office. What an honor it is. http://www.krauseforiowa.com/
The 2010 election will be about the role of government in times of economic hardship. Do we do something or do we do nothing? Based on my 21 years as a bankruptcy lawyer and an economics professor, I believe we need to do something positive to create a job for everyone who wants to work, provide healthcare for those without, and outlaw the type of financial piracy that got us into this mess in the first place.
Soon on the rest of the pages of this website you'll have a chance to share your stories and learn more about me.
I hope in the coming months to meet each of you and ask for your vote as your next U.S. Senator from Iowa. Tom http://www.fiegenforussenate.com/
